The king found out that sombody had planned to assasinate him. He was very grateful and asked whom had found out about this operation. The assistants told him that it was Mordecai, so the king wanted to do something for him. Then Haman walks and the king asked him what he should do for the man who pleases him. Haman thought it was he himself, so he told him to put him in the kings clothes and on his horse and let him ride across the city. The king said for him to do that, but for Mordecai, not Haman.
